I used a whole bottle of Beautycounter Instant Eye Makeup Remover. Here is my honest review of the award-winning nontoxic makeup remover.
Even if you don't wear a ton of makeup - I certainly don't - it's always a good idea to have a good makeup remover in your bathroom drawer. On days that I do wear makeup, I like using a makeup remover. Not necessarily for eye makeup since I use nontoxic formulas that are generally pretty easy to get off, but because I like to make sure I dissolve all of my face makeup. Using a makeup remover before cleanser helps ensure that my face gets nice and clean at the end of the day, reducing the chance of breakouts.

Why You Need a Natural Makeup Remover
Makeup removers are different from cleansers. Makeup removers do just what they say - remove makeup. They're designed to break down hard to remove products, such as stubborn eye makeup, without scrubbing, but can also be effective at breaking down face makeup and sunscreen. (But they don't typically cleanse, so you should follow with a facial cleanser.)
Makeup removers are typically made with oil, water, and a preservative of some sort, though the oil is the ingredient that does the breaking down and dissolving. Because some makeup removers use chemical preservatives that release formaldehyde (known as "formaldehyde-releasing compounds") it's important to use a natural, or 'clean' formula to ensure it's safe.

Beautycounter Instant Eye Makeup Remover: My Honest Review
Ingredients: 9/10
Free from ingredients on The Never List™, EWG Verified, Vegan, Cruelty Free
Experience: 7/10
While there is certainly nothing bad about the experience using this product, there is nothing memorable either. The packaging is well designed for ease of use. There is no smell to the product whatsoever. So while it does the job and certainly doesn't detract from an evening routine, it doesn't really enhance the ritual either. No complaints though!
Performance: 8/10
This makeup remover works well to remove makeup and sunscreen with ease. I typically just use my hands to massage it over my face, but if you have lots of eye makeup, you may want to use a cotton pad (I like these reusable ones!). The reason I'm taking off a couple of points is that it uses coconut oil, which my skin is a little sensitive to in terms of breakouts. But if coconut based products don't affect your skin, this shouldn't be an issue for you!
Value: 7/10
While this makeup remover is less expensive than most nontoxic formulas, there is a lot of water in it, which I feel is a little unnecessary. However, a little goes a long way so the generous sized bottle will last you a good bit of time.
Overall: 8/10
Overall Impressions
After using the whole bottle of Beautycounter's Instant Eye Makeup Remover all over my face, I have a good overall opinion of it. I feel I can trust Beautycounter's standards for choosing safe ingredients due to their transparent formulations and activism for safer beauty products. I think this remover does the job well and would probably buy it again because of the affordable price tag. However, because of the coconut oil (and because I want to keep trying new products to review for all of you!), I'll try others in the future.
