What Is Cleansing Oil?
If you haven't heard of a cleansing oil yet, it may sound counter-intuitive. But they are actually great! Cleansing oil is a facial oil that is used like a cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, dirt and oil. They can be used on their own or as the first step in a double cleansing routine. Oil dissolves oil, and can also breakdown oil-free formulas, such as eye makeup, without stripping skin of it's natural barrier, so oil cleansing is a great way to clean the skin for people with sensitive and dry skin.
Why You Need A Clean Cleansing Oil
Benefits of using a cleansing oil include clearer skin, as oil helps dissolve and lift out excess sebum, clogged pores, makeup and pollutants; and healthy, nourished skin since the natural lipid barrier of the skin remains intact.
It's important to choose a clean formula since the type of oil matters. You want a high quality (preferable organic) blend of oils, otherwise you could end up with clogged pores instead of clear skin. You also want to avoid products with added fragrances, dyes, or preservatives, as they can cause irritation and potentially harm your health.
How To Use It
To use oil cleanser, you massage the oil onto dry skin to dissolve any makeup or sunscreen. Add a little warm water to emulsify the oil and form a milk. Then wash away with warm water or a wet washcloth.
You can stop there, or follow up with your favorite traditional cleanser for a double-cleansing routine.

Pai Light Work Cleansing Oil: My Honest Review
Ingredients: 7/10
COSMOS Organic certified, Vegan, Cruelty-free, All natural. Active ingredients include rosehip oil, which contains omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9, and antioxidant carotenoids to replenish and protect skin. I do wish there were a higher amount of rosehip oil compared to other oils in the formulation.
Experience: 5/10
The smell is light and pleasant, and the packaging is nice. However, I found it oddly difficult to smooth across my face when trying to use it. It is thin when pumping it out, but feels thick and sticky trying to massage it into my skin, even after adding water to emulsify it.
Performance: 3/10
Unfortunately, this product just didn't work for me. I felt that it didn't remove makeup well, as I still had to try to remove all of my face makeup with another cleanser and washcloth following the oil - and I typically wear pretty light makeup. After a couple weeks' use, it left my breakout-prone skin more congested than before.
Value: 5/10
Probably not the most expensive, but certainly not cheap either. The bottle large bottle is pretty small for the price point, and since I felt I really had to use a lot to cover my whole face, the value isn't great.
Overall: 5/10
Overall Impressions
I had high hopes for this cleansing oil, but unfortunately, it just didn't work for me. It felt too difficult to massage onto my skin, and I just don't feel it worked well at removing even my light makeup. Though I really wanted the rosehip oil to help clear up my breakout-prone skin, something about the combination of other oils (including olive, sunflower, and castor oils) didn't work well with my skin and caused me to breakout even more. The website is full of raving reviews, so I'm sure it works well for other people, but it just didn't for my skin.
