If you've recently switched to clean deodorant, you know it can be struggle to find the one that works for you. I've tried at least a dozen in my years of clean beauty seeking, and have only truly liked a couple. I was so excited to find one that left me totally impressed - for a few days. Here is my full review of Taos Aer natural deodorant, including what I loved and where it went wrong.

Why You Need A Clean Deodorant
For me, switching to clean deodorant was an easy choice. The main ingredient in typical antiperspirant deodorants is aluminum, which has been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. While the evidence is inconsistent and lacking, the ability for aluminum to interfere with estrogen receptors has been demonstrated. Furthermore, other chemicals commonly found in typical drugstore deodorants have been linked to breast cancer too. Even a small amount of evidence is enough cause for me to avoid regular deodorant, given my genetic predisposition to breast cancer.
When I decided to make the switch to natural products several years ago, deodorant was one of the first products I focused on, since I use it daily and in close proximity to susceptible breast tissue. That said, it's a process finding the right natural deodorant. Not all of them are created equal.

Taos Aer Deodorant: My Honest Review
Ingredients: 9/10
Aluminum-Free, Paraben-Free, Cruelty-Free, Talc-Free, + Scented With Entirely Natural Essential Oils
Experience: 5/10
The first few days, I was absolutely smitten. The smell! The sleek packaging! The ease with which the formula glided seamlessly into my skin! Unfortunately the bliss was short lived. After about a week's use, I found it increasingly more difficult to get get the knob that pushes more ingredient up and out to actually turn, meaning I couldn't get more product out. Which was a bummer because I could see it was there, I just couldn't make it come out!
One day when I was in a hurry to get dressed, my patience ran out and I threw the entire stick on my marble tile floor (like any mature adult) and it broke. Well wouldn't you know, the knob started turning more easily! Unfortunately since the top was cracked and broken, it wasn't usable at that point. If it was easier to actually get the product out, it would have been a 10 here.
Performance: 10/10
This might be the best performing natural deodorant I've come across so far. It kept me smelling fresh all day and even overnight through night sweats. Like, it works better than some non-natural formulas. AND with no irritation, bumps, or clothing stains.
Value: 6/10
I'm basing this on if I was able to use the full stick. While it is a little pricey and there is not much in the actual stick (I found that out when the packaging broke and I was able to peek inside), you do have to use very little each day, which is nice.
Overall: 7.5/10
Overall Impressions
For at least a solid week, this was my new go-to. It performs SO well and was a joy to put on! The smell was lovely and kept me smelling fresh all day long. However, my dreams were crushed when it became a battle to get any more product out each day, even though I knew there was plenty left. The last straw was when I broke the plastic and couldn't use it anymore. At a semi-expensive price point, I don't know that I'd buy it again at the risk of a repeat experience. Though if they'd fix the packaging, I'd 100% buy it again.
